The Indiana Gaming Commission has issued temporary licenses to 12 land-based gaming operators to enable them to offer in-person and mobile sports betting to players over the age of 21.
Issuance of the temporary certificates of authority follows the signing of Indiana’s sports betting legislation by Governor Eric Holcomb in early May, with the licensing process launching on July 1st.
The Indiana Gaming Commission issued the temporary operating certificates Friday to the following operators:
- Ameristar Casino East Chicago, LLC – Ameristar East Chicago
- Belterra Resort Indiana, LLC – Belterra Casino Resort
- Blue Chip Casino, LLC – Blue Chip Casino
- Caesars Riverboat Casino, LLC – Caesars Southern Indiana
- Blue Sky Casino, LLC – French Lick Resort
- Indiana Gaming Company, LLC – Hollywood Casino
- Hoosier Park, LLC – Harrah’s Hoosier Park
- Horseshoe Hammond, LLC
- Centaur Acquisition, LLC – Indiana Grand
- Centaur Acquisition, LLC – Winner’s Circle Off-Track Betting, Clarksville
- Hoosier Park, LLC – Winner’s Circle Pub, Grille and Off Track Betting, Indianapolis
- Hoosier Park, LLC – Winner’s Circle Brew, Pub and Off Track Betting, New Haven
Each of the applicants paid an initial licensing fee of $100,000 and will be subject to a 9.5 percent tax on adjusted gross receipts from sports betting.
Indiana expects to generate sports wagering fees of $1.6m in the fiscal year 2020 alongside sports wagering tax revenue of $8.6m, with the tax revenue predicted to rise to $11.5m by the fiscal year 2022.
Earlier this month, the Commission launched a public consultation on the state’s sports betting regulations, with stakeholders and members of the public able to submit comments on the proposed framework until August 1. Such regulations will formalize the framework set out in the bill signed by Holcomb and will be discussed at a Commission meeting scheduled for August 28.
