The Lithuanian gambling control authority has issued a harsh warning to companies operating illegal online gambling in the country and added a number of sites to its blacklist of unlicensed operators.
With this warning, the gambling authority, which operates under the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Lithuania, wanted to remind operators that the Gambling Law provides that all online gambling operators need a license to provide these remote services.
On top of that, the regulator will do everything in its power to bar them from the country. To this end, the Gaming Control Authority will prevent payments to such sites and will use domain name system blocking to stop any Lithuanian IP from accessing a blacklisted site.

Operators discovered to be illegally offering remote gambling will be added to the blacklist of illegal gambling operators in Lithuania.
The authority has been working to prove its point and show that it cares for the integrity of the local gaming ecosystem. Recently, the Gaming Control Authority issued a warning again to UAB Baltic Bet which had offered an illegal promotion to its users. The regulator refrained from issuing a severe punishment at the time.
Last week, the Gaming Control Authority added several Slottica-branded sites to its blacklist. Slottica’s main site had been banned for a while but the operator opted to take action against all sites operating in its name.
For the provision of illegal gambling services, the Authority stipulated that operators may face blocking of payments and blocking of the domain name system, which prevents those with IP addresses in Lithuania from accessing the site. This is emphasized in the Lithuanian Gambling Law.
Earlier this month, the Lithuanian anti-corruption body warned that a bill, which would only allow licenses for online gambling, would offer an unfair advantage to online operators over land-based ones. Currently, all online licensees must have a ground operation or a partner with a business that owns it.
