The authorities of Malta and the Netherlands Kansspelautoriteit have signed a memorandum of understanding to work together to combat criminal gambling activities.

The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) and the Dutch regulatory authority Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) have concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to assist in tackling illegal activities in their respective markets.

The authorities agreed to share information and best practices and to discuss policies in an attempt to counter criminal gambling activities.

The two regulators said the collaboration will help increase transparency in both jurisdictions.

They said they would also aim to collaborate on gambling damage initiatives.

KSA President René Jansen said: “This Memorandum of Understanding provides a solid basis for sharing knowledge, cooperating and exchanging information without problems.
At the same time, operators will receive a clear signal that the forces of regulators will unite internationally.”

MGA has entered into agreements with several regulators and other bodies, including sports authorities.

MGA Executive Director Heathcliff Farrugia said: “Our relationship and cooperation with Kansspelautoriteit has already yielded tangible results in the past and, through this Memorandum of Understanding, in addition to formalizing such a relationship, stronger collaboration is ensured. international.”
